Does all the bad news in the world get you down? It turns out, there’s a reason for that. Our brains are hardwired to respond to bad news as a “fight or flight” reflex. But Christians celebrate the Good News of Jesus Christ, and during the month of July we’ll feature good news stories of our church and the world. Join Pastor Park for this uplifting series, and bring a friend!
Plus, join us for the Good News Challenge. Break the bad news cycle by spending three weeks skipping your dose of worldly news and instead reading scripture, praying, and giving thanks. Download the Study Guide (PDF).
July 1, “Good News” (James 3:4-10)… We’re wired to respond to bad news, but we need to hand on the Good News. Open communion.
July 8, “U.S. News” (2 Corinthians 8:7-15)… The USA began with hope. We can’t rest on our patriotism, but must continue the good work. We celebrate Independence Day and hear from our Annual Conference representatives.
July 15, “Community News” (1 Thessalonians 5:8-11)… Sharing the good news in our own lives builds each other up. Congregation members and friends share their own good news stories, big and small.
July 22, “World News” (Luke 4:16-21)… Jesus bring Good News of the kingdom to those who need it most. A celebration of our missions, including the youth mission team’s report from their trip to the Blackfoot Nation in Montana.
