Church for Sunday, October 4, 2020 (Kingdom 4)

For Sunday, October 3, Pastor Park Hunter preaches “You Gotta Serve Somebody,” based on Exodus 20:2-7. The Kingdom of God looks like putting God first in all things. No idols, no false gods, no excuses. God transcends allegiance to nation, party, race, or any other box we put ourselves in. False prophets tell us what we want to hear; God tells us the truth in love. This is the fourth in our seven-week series, “The Kingdom of God.”

The puppets share a five-finger prayer. This is World Communion Sunday, and our God Moment celebrate what we accomplish with this special offering. Please designate gifts for “WCS” or “World Communion Sunday.”

We celebrate communion during this service. All are welcome to participate; we join with hundreds of millions of Christians around the world in this act of sacramental grace! Please have something to eat and drink prepared to represent Christ – bread and grape juice or wine are traditional.

Sandy Koster, Doug Huggett, Renee Kastenschmidt, and Peg Benz lead hymns and special music at the 8:30a Classic service. Zoe de Boer, Melissa de Boer, Pam Klinger, and Cathy Novy lead music at the 11:00a Praise service.

Onalaska UMC worship services for this Sunday are available only by live stream on our YouTube channel. Please don’t come to church. Instead, stay at home and “praise in place!”
